Job Description:

The Communications Specialist will support the design and dissemination of strategic, engaging, and accessible communications that enhance awareness and understanding of maternal health initiatives. This role involves collaborating with internal teams, subject matter experts, and community partners to produce impactful content across digital and print platforms while ensuring compliance with accessibility and cultural competency standards. Responsibilities: Content Development And Strategy: ssist the design team in developing and managing content across websites, newsletters, social media, print materials, and reports. Translate complex health topics into clear, accessible, and engaging communications for diverse audiences. Collaborate with subject matter experts, creative teams, and community partners to design culturally competent and visually compelling materials. Maintain and update program web pages in compliance with ADA/WCAG 2.1 nd Revised Section 508 accessibility standards. Produce monthly newsletters using My Emma or similar platforms and track engagement metrics. Prepare quarterly reports measuring communication performance and recommending improvements. Community Engagement And Collaboration:

Support communication planning and outreach for the Maternal Health Task Force and partner organizations. Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external partners to enhance maternal health visibility and impact. Contribute to campaign development and community education projects promoting statewide maternal health initiatives. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to shifting priorities. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional portfolio. 2-5 years of experience in public health, nonprofit, or government communications preferred. Proficiency in Canva and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (graphic design samples required). Experience using My Emma or similar email marketing platforms and reporting engagement metrics. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, digital accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 nd Section 508). Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills (writing samples or bylined links required). Understanding of cultural competency and sensitivity in health communications. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working remotely.
