Responsibilities Using a CAD station to prepare 3D models, layouts, and schematics from sketches, specifications, and engineering reference data. Preparing production prints that show dimensions, tolerances, and bills of material. Formulating and visualizing original design concepts, calculating and checking specifications using submitted sketches and data. Establishing acceptable tolerances and dimensions when not specified, determining requirements for capacities, operating conditions, material selection, and construction type. Working under the direction of the Engineer in charge to resolve technical problems. Analyzing design concepts for manufacturing feasibility and cost. Recommending and implementing technical and design changes to improve design quality, operating performance, reliability, and reduce manufacturing cost. Instructing, assisting, and checking drawings of the CAD Operator assigned to you. Providing technical assistance related to the construction and testing of pilot models. Assisting the Engineer in analyzing test results and recommending design modifications. Preparing Engineering Change Orders and Engineering Projects as needed. Altering drawings to align with Engineering Change Orders or Engineering Projects. Occasionally undertaking more complex assignments as directed by the supervisor. Working on assembly and installation of prototypes at the plant and at sites such as farms and factories. Assisting the Technical Illustrator Writer in creating manuals and assembly instructions for new products. Observing all safety rules and corporate policies.
