We seek enthusiastic, self‑motivated individuals who can work independently and collaboratively. Schedule This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week). All library branch staff must work evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the year as part of the normal schedule. Job Summary Under the general direction of the Library Manager, you will manage and coordinate the maintenance of the library collection and provide information, programming, and outreach services. You will proactively develop, supervise, and evaluate librarian staff, collaborate with management and community partners, handle customer, staff, and building issues, and participate in various committees. Responsibilities Hire, train, develop, coach, supervise, and evaluate librarian staff. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to set performance expectations and customer service goals. Collaborate with the management team and community organizations to deliver high‑quality services that meet community needs. Oversee the maintenance of the collection and the provision of information, materials advisory and programming/outreach services. In the absence of the Branch Manager, assume manager duties. Lead or actively participate in branch and system‑wide teams, committees, and work groups. Model continuous learning through seminars, workshops, professional affiliations, and other means, encouraging staff development. Perform essential librarian functions as determined by branch and system needs, engaging in direct customer service. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of BCPL rules and policies, serving as a resource for other staff. Perform duties related to location‑specific, specialized services and/or Centers of Excellence. Meet scheduling requirements: arrive on time and stay for the full shift. Be able to work evenings and weekends with flexibility. Have access to transportation as needed for responsibilities at other branch locations or off‑site events. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. Comprehensive knowledge of library operations acquired through at least four (4) years of progressively responsible work in a public library. For non‑MLS/MLIS candidates: Successful completion of the Library Associates Training Institute (LATI) within two (2) years of the date of hire, or 90 hours toward MLS from an ALA‑accredited program.
