GuruLink is hiring: Broadcast Engineer in Chicago

Location: Chicago, Illinois

What You’ll Do

• Oversee and maintain broadcast facility operations, including server room infrastructure and core streaming systems.
• Operate and troubleshoot key broadcast technologies such as Harmonic playout, Crispin automation, Ross/Evertz equipment, and 4K/SDI workflows.
• Ensure continuous, high-quality content delivery across global digital platforms.
• Support remote production and live event streaming, providing technical expertise during live workflows.
• Perform preventative maintenance, optimize system performance, and respond rapidly to technical incidents.
• Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, workflows, procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance, upgrades, and operational support.

Must Have Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in broadcast or streaming engineering, ideally including facility or server room oversight.
• Hands‑on experience with Ross and Evertz systems, ClearCom, Harmonic playout, Crispin automation, and 4K/SDI signal workflows.
• Strong understanding of IP streaming protocols, CDNs, remote production workflows, and live streaming operations.
• Ability to work independently as the primary facility engineer, making fast, critical technical decisions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly.
• Familiarity with electrical and HVAC systems within technical environments.

Work Environment

• Standard business hours with on‑call responsibilities for urgent issues.
• Primary ownership of facility operations supporting 24/7 streaming services.
• Involvement in live event coverage and remote production activities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work inside server room environments.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform precise technical tasks.
