Best Buy is hiring: Senior Engineer, Advertising Solutions in Minneapolis

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, along with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a programming or scripting language such as Java/Spring, React, Next.js, or Typescript.
• Three years of experience in building custom systems and cloud environments (GCP & AWS) with a strong focus on architecture design in large-scale settings.
• Three years of familiarity with systems like Postgres, Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, Grafana, and Dynatrace.
• At least 1 year of leadership experience, either formal or informal.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Seven or more years of relevant professional experience.
• Five years of experience in engineering custom solutions utilizing modern programming languages, cloud technologies, and SDLC practices and tools.
• Five years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Three years of experience with Retail Media Networks, Ad Engineering, Ad Servers, or Demand Partners.
• Experience in retail, marketing, or similar industries and areas.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software development practices, including Scrum and Kanban.

Responsibilities

• Influence the architecture of intricate systems and processes, guiding strategic technical decisions across teams.
• Tackle highly complex challenges using innovative methods, including advanced debugging, triaging, and incident response.
• Communicate the trade-offs between technical, analytical, and product requirements to facilitate balanced decision-making.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing the SDLC, reliability, monitoring, and support; and recommend tools and standards to boost efficiency.
• Maintain high quality, performance, and reliability standards in custom-built systems while staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Cultivate strong technical and business relationships across a growing network of peers and stakeholders.

Company

This hybrid role will require you to work some days on-site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location.
