This full‑time position, part of the IBEW union, maintains the station’s technical integrity from acquisition to distribution and reports to the Technical Operations Manager. The role includes support for live newscasts, remote productions, and on‑air equipment management.
Responsibilities
- Technical Directing using a Sony 8000 video switcher with video and graphics playback
- Operate robotic cameras, lighting and audio consoles in the control room and remote productions
- Master Control operations and Air Assist functions across multiple broadcast platforms
- ENG receive acquisition and distribution
- Floor Directing in studio and at remote productions
- Move and handle props and sets during in‑house and remote productions (may involve heavy equipment)
- Maintain appearance of studios including cleaning of sets and floors
- Maintain and understand lighting grid and control board; climb ladders, change light bulbs and adjust fixtures
- Dress microphones and IFB’s for on‑camera appearances
- Basic multimedia computer skills and familiarity with current Internet technology for downloading promos and commercial client spots
- Assist with various technical needs on remote productions
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Operations Manager
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as an operations technician at a commercial television station with experience operating different broadcast equipment
- Solid background in operating broadcast television systems and equipment
- Related military experience will be considered
Salary
The estimated base salary range for this role is $57,304.52–$106,778.88. The actual base pay offered depends on transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range may be modified in the future.
