Job Description

Full‑time faculty positions begin in July 2026 with a 30‑credit‑hour (170‑day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. The successful candidate will teach communications courses, which will include but not be limited to Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Group Communication. This position is vital for providing general education requirements within Associate’s and Bachelor’s programs as well as supporting concurrent enrollment for local high school students. Teaching will occur in multiple modalities, including online, virtual classroom, in‑person, and hybrid formats.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full course load as assigned across multiple modalities.
  • Evaluate courses and assess student learning.
  • Meet established course, program, and learning outcomes and comply with institutional guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain office hours per established standards (at least five per week).
  • Develop rapport with students and assist with advising, orientation, and registration activities.
  • Engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentoring peers, assessment activities, program review, student organization support, and recruiting and retention.
  • Participate in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise and student learning, including research, grant writing, publishing, presentations, conferences, instructional technology development, and continued education.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet institutional needs.
  • Adhere to safety and compliance policies; may require travel and evening/weekend hours.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Communication, or Master’s Degree plus at least 18 graduate credits in Communications.
  • A minimum of one‑year, full‑time teaching experience or equivalent (30 credit hours) as an adjunct faculty member; higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in various teaching delivery modes: in‑person, hybrid, synchronous online, and asynchronous online.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, collegiality, and commitment to student success.
  • Welcoming, innovative, focused on student success; ability to work effectively with diverse students, employees, and community members.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary range: $79,902.51–$97,321.19, based on education and experience.
