Job Summary This position is responsible for performing duties in support of the operation of the library including maintenance of collections, maintaining the security of the building including opening and closing, management of library furniture, maintaining the checkout desk, and any other needs of the East Georgia Library. The Library Assistant is responsible for ensuring the adherence to the mission and strategic plan of the library and the department's role in support of the mission and strategic plan. The Library Assistant provides circulation services to users. Work schedule based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver efficient circulation services to patrons in the library.
  • Maintains the East Georgia State College Library collections including, but not limited to main stacks, popular browsing, circulation materials, and technology items, inventory library collection.
  • Maintain security of the library including opening and closing and following all emergency procedures.
  • Performs opening and closing library procedures ensuring that the library is secure at the end of the day and that all patrons have exited the library.
  • Maintain library furniture including organization and surplus
  • Participate in library committees, attend workshops, webinars, and other learning opportunities.
  • Documents statistical data such as hourly counts and desk interactions.
  • Work with library staff to develop a team-oriented work environment by working on all projects for library
  • Assists with maintaining a safe library environment that is conducive to research and study by monitoring the library and acting to resolve any inappropriate conduct.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Library setting.
  • Experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo.
  • Associate's degree.

Proposed Salary $15.15

  • Knowledge of college and library policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of library practices and procedures including the Library of Congress classification system.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Flexibility and interpersonal communication skills.
