Position Title Assistant Professor of Animation Department 2130|Visual Arts Responsibilities The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking applicants for the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Animation position, a full-time, 9-month appointment, beginning August 1, 2025. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in a diverse student-centered learning environment and will teach three courses in the animation concentration, including Introduction to Animation and Introduction to Digital Art courses. The position requires oversight and maintenance of the animation area equipment and facilities. The Department of Visual Arts is NASAD accredited. The Department has 18 full-time faculty, 5 part-time faculty, and over 330 majors in 9 concentration areas within an integrated curriculum leading to a B.F.A. degree. The Department additionally teaches those students receiving the B.A. in Art Education. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is an R1 Carnegie Research University and the flagship campus of nine publicly supported universities in the University of Louisiana System. The University’s enrollment in fall 2022 was 18,864, with over 800 full and part-time faculty members across eight degree-granting colleges and the Graduate School. Qualifications M.F.A. with broad knowledge of and the ability to teach CG animation, digital animation, and stop-motion animation. Expertise in Clip Studio Paint, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe After Effects is required. Other desired proficiencies include Maya, Dragon Frame, TV Paint Animation, and Adobe Substance. Recent graduates are highly recommended to apply.
