What You’ll Get To Do This role works at the segment/IPT level of an extremely complex system comprised of multiple segments, all of which incorporate mature and emerging technologies. As a Staff Hardware Design Lead, you will lead the Hardware Design Team and partner with other engineering function leaders to progress and mature the segment, and support critical engineering reviews and milestones (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR). This position supports the full design lifecycle—including development, integration, and test.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 10 years of experience, or a PhD with 8 years of experience.
Proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams, providing guidance and support to achieve project goals.
Demonstrated experience working with architectural studies, technical baseline definition, and requirements & interface management.
Strong understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, specifically system architecture.
Strong understanding of hardware design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies.
Experience defining interfaces with software teams for defense‑grade hardware systems.
Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects.
This position requires that the applicant be a U.S. citizen.
Current active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications
Current active DoD TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.
STEM degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience with MBSE and requirements management tools such as Cameo and DOORS.
Familiarity with hardware/software integration, test planning and execution, or operational support.
Full custom circuit card design cycle (concept through production) experience, e.g., FPGAs, DDR memory, high‑speed SerDes, and microprocessors.
Familiarity with project and task management tools: Jira or Confluence.
Familiarity with data visualization tools: Tableau.
Salary Primary Level Salary Range: $155,500 – $233,300 annually.
The above salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers multiple factors when determining base salary offers.
Benefits Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for long‑term incentives.
