The Mens Design Manager oversees the execution of seasonal collections by guiding the design team, translating brand direction into actionable design work, and managing cross‑functional alignment. While creative direction is set at a higher level within the organization, the Design Manager ensures the team delivers cohesive, commercially relevant product that meets margin, fit, and timeline requirements. By guiding the design team, closely monitoring market trends, and working with cross‑functional partners, the Mens Design Manager ensures each collection delivers authenticity, style, and competitive relevance.

Key Duties

Working alongside Merchandising and the Art Director; develop the color stories, key trend direction and overarching stories for each season.

Oversee the creation of seasonal collections, focusing on innovation, functionality, and style.

Team Management

Manage and mentor the men’s design team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.

Provide clear direction and feedback to designers, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

Partner with development, merchandising, and production teams to ensure designs are feasible, SKU productivity optimized and products meet margin requirements.

Oversee the creation of tech packs, fabric selections, and prototypes to align with the design intent.

Market Research & Trend Analysis

Conduct regular market research to stay ahead of industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings.

Integrate feedback from athletes, retailers, and customers to refine the men’s product line.

Presentation & Storytelling

Present collections to leadership and sales teams, articulating the inspiration and story behind each line.

Collaborate with marketing on visuals, campaigns, and storytelling.

Skills

Exceptional creative vision and ability to define a cohesive aesthetic.

Strong leadership, team building, and mentorship capabilities.

In‑depth understanding of men’s fashion trends, market dynamics, and consumer preferences.

Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and garment construction.

Strong communication skills to convey design concepts and direction to cross‑functional teams.

Ability to work within budget and timeline constraints while maintaining design integrity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in apparel design, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.

Proven track record of successfully directing seasonal collections for men’s products.

Experience collaborating with merchandising, product development, and production teams.

Salary Range: $125,000-$135,000
