Position Overview The Deputy Project Leader (Telecommunications) is a training position focused on supervising and directing employees on a project, preparing strategic plans and budgets, developing a comprehensive project plan, and analyzing statistical data. The role requires experience in technology systems integration, including passive and active communication infrastructure, and proven ability to lead design and construction teams.
Responsibilities
Assist in leading a team that provides communications and electronic safety and security passive and active infrastructure, including ISP/OSP pathways, cabling, networking, wireless systems, CCTV, access control, A/V, and other technology applications, ensuring design efficiency and contractual compliance.
Assist in the design and deployment of Information Transport Systems and telecommunications systems.
Run day‑to‑day operations of a project or sub‑section of a project.
Identify change orders and ensure effective resolution.
Price, track, and manage change orders.
Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses.
Maintain as‑builds as work is completed.
Document project issues and conditions.
Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
Research and compile submittals; price change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects.
Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Communicate externally on behalf of the company to customers, the public, government, and general contractor representatives.
Ensure timely decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements.
Travel up to 25% of the time throughout the United States; must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Pay Rate $104,080 - $156,120 per year.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience working for a telecommunications integrator or electrical contractor.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field; preference for Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
Experience
Experience on telecom and security projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.
Experience with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals.
Experience installing Information Transport Systems.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, Project Management, CPM Scheduling, cost modeling, and AutoCAD software.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts for precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings on electrical and security projects.
Familiar with standard deliverables and work processes on construction and integration projects.
Strong interpersonal and writing skills; problem owner/solver.
Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or those of others.
Ability to work in a diverse environment with personnel from varied backgrounds.
Reliably present at customer sites during required work hours.
Flexible to work occasional nights and weekends.
Preferred Skill Set
Accubid Estimating (or equivalent) related to electrical installations.
Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling experience and proficiency.
Willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
Abilities
Exposure to computer screens for extended periods.
Ability to sit for extended periods; reach by extending hands or arms.
Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers.
Listening and understanding spoken information.
Effective verbal communication.
Reading and understanding written information.
Applying general rules to specific problems.
Understanding speech of others.
