ROLE OVERVIEW Williams‑Sonoma, Inc. is seeking a Public Relations Manager to serve the Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen brands. The Public Relations Manager will be responsible for creating the brands' PR strategies, overseeing brand collaborations, executing celebrity partnerships and acting as primary contact for all media inquiries. The ideal candidate will be an experienced public relations professional with media relations, marketing and brand partnership experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create and manage PR budgets for the fiscal year that strategically align to the brands’ initiatives. Maximize budget efficiency to deliver cost savings wherever possible.

Lead the creation of compelling press materials, including press releases, media kits, executive quotes and pitches that further the brand voice and vision.

Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing insights and recommendations to refine PR strategies.

Oversee and coordinate media sample and image requests in partnership with the Sr. PR Coordinator.

Manage all aspects of brand collaborations, from initial outreach and negotiation to execution and follow‑up, ensuring consistency with brand values and objectives.

Evaluate opportunities for collaborations, proactively pitch both celebrity partners and brand collaborations on an on‑going basis.

Act as company spokesperson for media opportunities when appropriate.

Mentor and develop junior PR team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Partner closely with Corporate Communications and Legal on any crisis communication on an as‑needed basis.

Foster relationships with national press, including digital, print and broadcast outlets.

Plan seasonal press strategies and media previews.

Work closely with cross channel partners on all brand partnerships, key PR initiatives and celebrity makeover launches.

Lead the creation of compelling press materials, including press releases, media kits, and pitches that align with our brand voice and vision.

Develop compelling PR recaps to showcase weekly, quarterly and yearly results.

QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of 6 plus years’ experience in consumer public relations and the retail sector. This candidate is an excellent communicator with experience serving as a company spokesperson and established relationships with top‑level media contacts.

Expertise at media relations, event planning, public relations writing, and budget planning and forecasting is a must. General marketing and advertising experience are a strong plus. Candidate must be a flexible and creative self‑starter who is able to work within an entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple projects at once.

The successful candidate must also have the following skills and qualifications:

6 years’ experience, preferably with both agency and in‑house teams

Proven ability to advise cross functional partner communications strategy aligned to business objectives

Comfort and experience working closely with executive management team

Experience with media relations

Independent, self‑sufficient work ethic

Exceptional initiative & follow‑through skills

Creative, strategic and analytical thinking

Thoughtful leadership, both within PR discipline and with the business at large

Ability to act as primary company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews

Strong consumer media relations skills, with proven program results

Partnership management experience

Ability to work cross‑functionally across various business functions

Results‑focused approach

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to recommend and initiate work and projects with minimal direction

A skilled user of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

Experience with MuckRack media monitoring services

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or public relations a plus

The expected starting pay range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job‑related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
