Position Title: University Faculty Interior Design

Job Description This is a full‑time faculty position with a desired starting date of January 1, 2026. The role can be filled as an Instructor or tenure‑track Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications. The person hired must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Northern Utah area, as frequent on‑campus presence is required.
Selected individuals will develop and teach a variety of courses in the interior design program, participate in service to the Program, Department, as well as the College and University, and may provide advice and take on other duties as assigned.
Job Duties
Teach 12 credits for each of two semesters during the academic year. Classes are to be determined and approved by the program coordinator and department chair.
Help with service events, including but not limited to Charitable Chair, Design Charrette, Study Abroad, and other program and department activities.
Participate in accreditation preparation and all activities pertaining to maintaining CIDA accreditation status.
Attend department meetings and graduation as scheduled. Efforts are made to schedule meetings around classes.
Hold office hours at least five hours per week and be available for student consultation as required.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in ID, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Fine Arts, Education, or an equivalent Design‑Build degree.
At least one degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
Current practicing professional in interior design and/or architecture with at least 1 year of experience.
At least 1 year of Interior Design teaching experience at University Level (Studio and Lecture).
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant technology certifications.
NCIDQ certification or successful completion of NCIDQ exam within 18 months of hire (required qualification for tenure‑track).
Scholarly and creative activity.
Background Check Criminal background check required as a condition of employment.

Visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision. Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
