Engage with our customers and internal team in an integrated way — particularly in the areas of lighting, lighting controls and motorized window treatments. This role will collaborate with our internal Project Design, Business Development, and Project Management Teams as well as client and external design partners to design, specify, and layout lighting control systems and automated shading solutions. This role will help create more intelligent, responsive, and beautifully lit environments.
Responsibilities:
Produce accurate, efficient, and creative system layouts and documentation for lighting, lighting control and motorized shading solutions, utilizing AutoCAD and/or other applicable design tools
Execute technology design plans within Visual Comfort standards, ensuring consistency and quality across both system designs and client-facing deliverables
Participate in and/or lead technology presentations to builders, interior designers, architects, and integrators, showcasing control and automation solutions
Collaborate with Business Development, Project Designers, and Project Management Teams across all markets to convert new customers and further develop relationships with existing Visual Comfort clients
Leverage deep product knowledge and system design expertise to act as a technical resource to internal team members and clients
Travel for client meetings, project walk-throughs, and site visits within assigned showroom and trade area markets
Meet established project milestones and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of all design phases
Work effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems
Exhibit and adhere to the established Visual Comfort Company Values
Must demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule
Be fully present in the workplace to effectively collaborate and communicate amongst co-workers and teams
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Interior design, Lighting Design, Industrial Design, Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical or Electronic) or Architecture required
3+ years of project based residential, lighting control, fixture, design/drafting experience required
Lutron or AVIXA and/or CEDIA Certifications a plus
Proficient computer and drafting skills utilizing AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Acrobat and Excel. Experience with Dialux or AGI32 not required, but helpful
Project management experience not required, but helpful
Experience in interior design, custom home building products, luxury home furnishings and/or lighting industry a plus
Keen eye for design and creativity
Excellent problem-solving
Knowledge of residential construction processes and a good understanding of construction documents
Critical thinking, superior organization, planning skills, time management and prioritization with the ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure in a dynamic, multi-location team environment
Excellent communication skills, possess the ability to clearly articulate design and technical information to clients and internal teams
Demonstrate exceptional communication across all contact channels, including email, chat and phoneExperience professionally presenting solutions to customers
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and possess the ability to remain calm under pressure
Ability to achieve results both independently and through collaboration
Strong analytical skills with a consistent focus on results measurement and fact-based decision making
Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, early mornings, late evenings
