Position Summary The Director of Marketing and Business Development will take a lead role in accelerating growth in the firm, overseeing marketing and sales and aligning them toward our targeted revenue growth. Reporting directly to the Management Committee, this person will have a voice in the direction of firm growth, the services offered, the industries served and Calibre’s overall market strategy. Forward‑thinking, this person will be the go‑to source for all aspects of sales support, traditional marketing, marketing operations, marketing technology and product management.
Responsibilities
Assisting the firm partners in developing their marketing/business development plans and assisting in execution
Developing and executing the firm’s annual growth plan, including office plans and segment/niche focus
Preparing the marketing and business development budget to support growth
Implementing and directing all marketing strategies
Identifying ways to improve ROI on marketing
Marketing
Overseeing brand strategy, marketing campaigns, demand generation, digital presence, and thought leadership efforts to raise the firm’s profile and drive growth.
Ensuring that messaging reflects the firm’s mission and core values, deep expertise, and strong community roots.
Guiding niche and marketing teams to support the growth.
Initiating all public relations.
Ensuring regular communications with clients and prospects via email marketing, marketing automation and social media.
Strategizing and planning all in‑person and web‑based events.
Helping to turn segment/niche leaders into thought leaders.
Collaborating with partners and subject‑matter experts to coordinate marketing and speaking opportunities.
Collaborating with HR and Operations on recruitment marketing, onboarding materials, internal/external messaging and employee engagement and culture building efforts.
Business Development
Developing training for non‑executive level employees in business development.
Expanding the firm’s database of clients and prospects and news media to ensure continued visibility.
Reinforcing the firm’s sales process through training, coaching and other activities that drive profitable revenue.
Coaching professionals on business development.
Implementing and overseeing the firm’s pipeline.
Supporting the development of personal marketing plans.
Reviewing sales outcomes for improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
10+ years of senior experience in growth, business development or marketing within the accounting, professional services or consulting sector.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of firm personnel and external contacts with tact and professionalism, maintaining discretion regarding confidential firm and client matters at all times.
A roll‑up‑your‑sleeves and get‑it‑done attitude with tangible results.
Proven experience in support of sales, marketing and business development.
A change agent with a proven ability to bring new ideas, concepts and processes.
Ability to persuasively communicate and sell new concepts and processes to all levels within the firm.
Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, while recognizing and supporting the firm’s priorities.
Participative management style that advocates team building, cooperation and goals.
