Job Title: Drafting/CAD Technician II
Schedule:
Standard 40 hours/week (Onsite)
Position Summary
The Drafting/CAD Technician II is responsible for maintaining, creating, and managing technical drawings used across the facility. This position plays a critical role in supporting daily operations, manufacturing improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives. The technician will partner closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to develop equipment designs, update drawing packages, and ensure accurate documentation throughout the facility.
The client requires candidates
specifically trained in CAD , preferably with a 2-year technical degree focused on CAD or drafting. Candidates with higher engineering degrees who have only taken limited CAD coursework
will not be considered , as this role is hands‑on CAD‑focused and not suitable for engineering‑track career paths.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, organize, and coordinate all plant technical drawings, ensuring accuracy and version control.
Manage drawing accessibility across the facility through proper archiving and documentation practices.
Ensure all project‑related documentation—including drawings, spare parts lists, procedures, and schedules—is complete and accurate.
Design & Development
Use SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD software) to develop, modify, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment drawings.
Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to design and improve manufacturing equipment.
Technical Support
Support troubleshooting and problem resolution by providing accurate drawings and design insights.
Update manufacturing drawings and create detailed drawing packages with proper GD&T.
Project & Operational Support
Assist with cost‑reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to equipment design modifications and enhancements.
Required Minimum Qualifications Education
Required:
2‑year technical degree in one of the following:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electromechanical Engineering
CAD/CAM
Manufacturing
OR
equivalent experience with a
drafting certificate .
Experience
Minimum 2 years
of experience in drafting, CAD design, or a closely related field.
Required Skills
Candidates must possess:
Proficiency in
SolidWorks
or similar 3D CAD tools
Strong skills in
Microsoft Excel
Effective
problem‑solving and technical design
abilities
Ability to
read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
Working knowledge of
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Self‑motivation and commitment to high‑quality work
Strong technical curiosity and desire to improve designs
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferred (Desired) Skills
