Public Relations Account Coordinator The Public Relations Account Coordinator works across an integrated team of PR, Social Media, and Creative teammates to develop strategic PR initiatives, plans, and press materials, manage media relations and media hits, reporting and more. Your ability to learn, adapt and understand the local and regional media market is just the beginning. You must possess a strong grasp of what is trending in current events and social conversation today and how to build and report against media outreach plans aimed at breaking through and earning conversation from consumers and coverage from relevant media outlets. Though you will specialize in earned media tactics, you’ll be expected to start your role with working knowledge of other critical public relations strategies with an eagerness to learn more about paid, shared and owned media.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assists in creating, delivering, editing, and optimizing PR materials – press releases, case studies, newsletter content, client talking points, and online/digital content.

Assisting with media and influencer relations, both locally and nationally.

Ensuring that messages support and are consistent with marketing strategies.

Coordinating and facilitating media hits.

Using media monitoring tools and developing reports and analysis of media coverage.

Looking for unusual ways (via earned media and other tactics) to help clients stand out in the noise.

Utilizing strong communication skills to maintain solid and successful relationships with clients and internal account teams.

Researching news coverage and industry trends in order to develop fresh story and holistic creative ideas.

Working across various agency departments in a collaborative setting to drive PR/earned-centric ideas and strategies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proven success in performing and/or understanding media outreach to a variety of local, regional and national news outlets, including newspapers, magazines and broadcast media.

Ability to maintain key media and client relationships through clear, consistent communication.

Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Experience and knowledge in AP Style.

The ability to consistently meet deadlines, using an organized, detail-oriented approach and good listening.

A passion to develop innovative ideas.

The ability to work well both independently and in a team setting, able to work and flourish quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to provide creative solutions to problems (both tactical and strategic issues).

Experience calculating and effectively reporting PR value for secured coverage.

Ability to demonstrate the value of and drive PR as an integrated marketing and communication service.

Bonus:

Have experience with media monitoring tools and services such as Cision, Trendkite, TVEyes, BurrellesLuce, Newship, etc.

Bonus:

Has worked with any social media influencers or celebrities.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

Recent ASU Cronkite School graduate preferred.

Public relations experience: 1-2 years.

Next Role Progression:

Associate Account Executive, Public Relations.

Working Conditions:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Typically working in an office with occasionally working outdoors on location at client sites.

Travel requirements – In-town travel necessary, occasional overnight travel needed.
