Job Summary
The Cake Artist is responsible for designing, creating, and decorating custom cakes, ensuring high-quality, visually appealing products that meet customer expectations. This role involves using artistic skills to craft cakes for various occasions, while maintaining food safety standards and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities Cake Design & Decoration
Create and decorate custom cakes.
Work with customers to understand their vision and provide design suggestions.
Variety of techniques such as fondant, buttercream, piping, and edible decorations.
Ensure all cakes meet company standards for taste, texture, and aesthetic appeal.
Cake Production & Baking
Prepare and assemble cake layers, fillings, and frostings for decoration.
Maintain inventory of cake supplies.
Customer Service
Communicate effectively with customers to finalize orders, clarify design requests, and provide updates on cake progress.
Handle special requests, such as dietary restrictions, allergen-free options, or themed decorations.
Provide a high level of customer service, ensuring all orders are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction.
Quality Control & Safety
Ensure cakes and other baked goods are stored properly to maintain freshness and quality.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients.
Keep the work area clean and organized, following company hygiene standards.
Collaboration & Support
Work with other bakery team members to ensure timely production and delivery of cakes.
Assist in inventory management.
Contribute to the development of new cake designs and ideas to enhance the product offerings.
Requirements Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; culinary or cake decorating training preferred.
Proven experience as a cake decorator or cake artist in a professional setting.
Strong creativity, attention to detail, and artistic skills.
Knowledge of various cake decorating techniques, tools, and edible materials.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, especially during busy periods.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for long periods and perform detailed, intricate work.
Frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on customer orders.
