Hybrid; must be able to work onsite in the NYC office as required
Overview We are seeking an experienced Designer to support a fast-paced apparel design team for a 3-month contract assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong Illustrator sketching skills, experience creating detailed tech packs, and a background in sleepwear, intimates, or other apparel categories that require technical construction knowledge. This role requires accuracy, speed, and the ability to manage multiple priorities throughout the seasonal design cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Create brand-appropriate, commercially viable designs that align with the seasonal concept and business strategy
Produce high-quality sketches in Adobe Illustrator with efficiency and accuracy
Develop detailed tech packs with emphasis on construction, drape, fit, and finishing techniques
Update and maintain BOMs and product details in PLM systems (Centric experience is a plus)
Maintain accurate linesheets, including sketches, color updates, and product information
Incorporate feedback and adapt designs for finalization
Conduct trend research, competitor analysis, and support seasonal design development
Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Merchandising, Product Development, Color/Print, and Graphics
Present design concepts to leaders and internal teams as required
Manage and support junior design staff when needed
Ensure all deliverables meet timelines, calendar deadlines, and quality standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 3 years of design experience in a comparable apparel environment
Strong Illustrator sketching skills with the ability to sketch styles quickly and accurately
Proficient in Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Creative Suite
Proven experience creating tech packs with solid understanding of apparel construction
Experience in sleepwear, intimates, or related product categories strongly preferred
Ability to maintain detailed linesheets with high accuracy
Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
Ability to multitask, manage shifting priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
