Culture and Trends Manager, YouTube Marketing This role may also be located in our Playa Vista, CA campus.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

6 years of experience in marketing, journalism, content programming or a related field.

Experience tracking video trends, music trends or digital culture for a news outlet or editorial brand, or experience curating content for a technology platform.

Experience working cross-functionally with various stakeholders and teams.

Preferred qualifications

Knowledge of the short-form video landscape and a passion for digital culture.

Ability to build collaborative partnerships with partners and cross-functional teams.

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and evolving context.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional public speaking experience.

About The Job As a Culture and Trends Manager in YouTube Marketing, you'll have the opportunity to shape and improve understanding of YouTube, viral internet culture, trending music, memes and short form video content. You'll join the YouTube Culture and Trends team, which uses data to track trends, and connect YouTube stories and content to people. This includes community-focused initiatives, as well as other projects built around popular content across entertainment, news, music, sports and more.

You'll manage efforts around identifying popular trends, channels and videos and developing programming strategies, around short-form video. You'll leverage data and research to create positive, engaging user experiences on a daily basis and work with cross-functional teams to help users and creators better understand what's happening on YouTube. You will work in the YouTube community and daily social media conversation.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Serve as an expert on YouTube Shorts, creators, and fandoms. Track the latest memes, songs, hashtags and trends on a daily basis through research.

Manage local programming efforts, reviewing videos and channels while taking into account policies and considerations. Assess and make decisions about the appropriateness of different content for different surfaces, providing expert guidance on cultural sensitivities.

Conduct analysis of trends data to identify patterns and cultural insights to drive program strategies and support marketing and communication initiatives with data-driven recommendations.

Create trends-based narratives for tentpole YouTube moments and represent YouTube occasionally as a spokesperson on emerging trends for internal and external audiences.

Contribute to the global development of resources and tools to improve trend identification and analysis.
