Digital Media Specialist
to lead the production of video, audio and digital content that informs, inspires and engages more than 184,000 member‑owners across Virginia.

About the Role The Digital Media Specialist manages REC’s digital ecosystem, which includes videos, websites, podcasts, livestreams and member‑focused digital experiences. From concept to final cut, you’ll shape the digital voice of the Cooperative and ensure every piece of content aligns with our mission, brand and communication strategy.
This position blends creativity with strategy, hands‑on production with storytelling and technology with community impact.
What You’ll Lead
Develop and execute REC’s digital media strategy to strengthen member engagement and elevate the Cooperative’s brand.
Create SEO‑friendly content for REC’s website, social media and digital platforms.
Oversee social media content development, scheduling and posting.
Administer REC’s internet and intranet sites, ensuring accuracy, clarity and alignment with best practices.
Identify emerging digital trends and technologies to enhance REC’s reach and performance.
Monitor digital content for consistency, accuracy, accessibility and brand alignment.
Optimize all digital content for SEO, member engagement and strategic visibility.
Video Production & Podcasting
Serve as REC’s videographer and lead producer for all video and audio projects.
Plan, shoot, edit and deliver high‑quality multimedia content from start to finish.
Produce videos that support REC’s strategic communication priorities and enhance member understanding of key programs.
Oversee REC’s digital streaming initiatives including planning, content production, scheduling and distribution.
Manage the review and approval process for all multimedia content.
Collaborate across the Communications & PR team to produce content for campaigns, events and employee/member programs.
Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support
Work closely with internal teams to produce multimedia for employee meetings, member town halls, annual meetings and key REC initiatives.
Serve as the point of contact for digital and video production projects.
Provide guidance on multimedia presentations and digital design.
Support content review and editing across communications channels.
Represent REC in community and professional organizations.
Build strong relationships with vendors, designers, consultants and partners.
Metrics, Insights & Emerging Tech
Track engagement and performance across digital platforms.
Use analytics to optimize video, podcasts, social media and website content.
Recommend improvements based on member feedback and performance data.
Monitor online communication channels for accuracy, relevance and functionality.
Qualifications We’re looking for a professional who brings:
A four‑year degree (Communications, Journalism, Mass Communications, Digital Media or related field).
At least 8 years of experience
in digital media, video production or communications.
Advanced skills in videography, audio production, editing and post‑production.
Experience managing websites and content management systems (CMS).
Strong storytelling, writing and content development abilities.
Strong analytical skills and experience using data to optimize content.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, navigate sensitive topics and communicate with empathy and professionalism.
Ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines and adapt in fast‑paced, high‑visibility situations, especially during outages or emergencies.
Based primarily in
Fredericksburg, VA , with occasional work at district offices or in the field.
Standard schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM , with flexibility for major communications needs.
Some travel required for training, events, and content production.
Availability for emergency communications when needed (storm response, outages, etc.).
