Position Summary The Communications Associate supports the strategic communications and public engagement efforts of Central Carolina Community Foundation. This position is designed for a communications professional who is eager to build skills in outreach, marketing, and public engagement while contributing to the Foundation’s mission of promoting, increasing, and facilitating philanthropy across the Midlands. The Communications Associate works closely with the Director of Communications and Public Engagement to implement communications initiatives that strengthen the Foundation’s visibility, reputation, and connection to the community.

Key Responsibilities Communications

Oversee development, curation, and execution of engaging content for newsletters, social media, and the Foundation’s website that reflects the organization’s voice and priorities.

Manage social media platforms and maintenance of the Foundation’s website by creating, scheduling, and monitoring content, ensuring consistent messaging and timely updates.

Use analytics tools and data to track the performance of newsletters, social media, and website content, providing regular reports and recommendations to improve reach and engagement.

Draft, edit, and proofread content for press releases, donor materials, and other print and digital communications.

Support the design and production of visual content including graphics, presentations, videos, and marketing collateral, as needed.

Public Engagement

Support the planning, promotion, and execution of Foundation events and initiatives, including giving days and community engagement activities.

Assist in coordinating with vendors, partners, and media outlets for communications projects.

Provide on-site support for events, including setup, photography, social media coverage, and follow-up.

Organizational and Administrative Support

Manage and maintain content calendars for newsletters, social media, and other communication platforms to ensure deadlines are met.

Provide administrative support to the communications team, including, but not limited to, scheduling, tracking expenses, and maintaining contact lists.

Collaborate with Foundation staff to support communications needs across departments.

Represent the Foundation at community events as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.

At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.

Experience creating and managing content for newsletters, social media, or digital platforms.

Ability to use data and analytics to inform communication strategies and measure outcomes.Experience with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and website content management systems.

Basic design skills (experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools preferred).

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues and community partners.

Photography, video, or event support experience is a plus.

Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and independent problem-solving skills.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle to use in performance of job.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range:

$50,000 - $55,000

This position is eligible for benefits including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, health savings account, and a 6% retirement benefit contributed by Central Carolina Community Foundation.
