Dant Clayton offers opportunities for candidates to join an exciting and growing company. The Design Specialist performs a range of design and detailing activities, contributing to the organization's shape through the use of 2D and 3D technology. Dant Clayton is seeking a candidate who can bring their ideas to us and wants to work and grow within the exciting world of sports facility design and modular building construction. The candidate supports sales, engineering, project management, shop fabrication, and field support.
Duties & Responsibilities
Create the project design in Autodesk AutoCAD, including preparation of proposal drawings, approval drawings, shop drawings, and final field use drawings.
Generate RFI’s to assist with job clarity on an as‑needed basis.
Review drawings, plans, specifications, and other customer documentation.
Attend and participate in project‑specific meetings to determine the most efficient project design while following the scope of work.
Work with engineering to communicate the design requirements and update designs to engineering requirements.
Communicate effectively to help maintain the internal and construction schedule.
Identify opportunities for improvement (value engineering) and make constructive suggestions for change.
Develop comprehensive knowledge of Dant Clayton products and their applicability to project requirements.
Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make the detailed drawing clear and complete.
Communicate details/complexities to ensure an accurate release of information to manufacturing.
Operates in a cross‑functional capacity; as workflow demands change, it may be necessary to support other production requirements as part of the project team.
Works to help reduce errors and improve drawing standards for external and internal use.
Watches to make sure own project task follows key metrics: Correct, On Time, and On Budget.
Expected to engage in cross‑functional collaboration and contribute to the development of others.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Position based on 40‑hour work week, but overtime may be required to meet project needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or better with an educational background in architecture or engineering. Preference towards an Architectural CADD degree program or similar. Will also consider combinations of education and relevant experience.
Certificate in Computer Aided Drafting and Design and/or previous experience.
A general understanding of construction practices and principles.
Demonstrated ability to manage/coordinate a small project (or defined portion of a larger project) from concept through construction documentation.
Self‑starter who is focused, articulate, well‑organized, and detail‑oriented.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, and familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and Office Products.
Passion for technological advancement and personal growth.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
