Job Title: AI Workforce Job Designer

Pay Rate: $70 – $77 per hour (W2)
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The AI Workforce Job Designer will lead a high-impact, short-term engagement to build the foundational workforce architecture for the Client's growing Artificial Intelligence Division. Over a 120-day period, this consultant-level role will focus on enterprise-level AI/ML workforce planning, developing standardized job families and competencies, and delivering market-informed compensation recommendations tailored to a public health/governmental organization.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct AI/machine learning workforce planning and capacity modeling aligned with future organizational needs.
- Design standardized job families and role levels for AI, data science, and technical roles.
- Define core and technical competencies for all AI-related job classifications.
- Develop job descriptions and career pathways that support internal mobility and long-term growth.
- Benchmark comparable roles across public-sector healthcare, government, and technology industries to inform compensation and job titling.
- Deliver recommendations for a sustainable and scalable AI talent architecture aligned with organizational goals.
- Recommend a framework to support long-term workforce expansion and talent management.
- Collaborate with technical leadership, including the Senior Director of AI & Engineering, to align job architecture with operational and innovation objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUMMARY OF SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated expertise in workforce planning, job architecture, and competency framework design—preferably within large, matrixed, public-sector organizations.
- Strong working knowledge of AI/ML roles, skill sets, and team structures, with the ability to translate technical functions into HR-aligned frameworks.
- Proven experience in compensation benchmarking and market analysis.
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize stakeholder input and industry research into clear, scalable deliverables (e.g., job families, career ladders, competency models).
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on tight timelines.
- Familiarity with public-sector HR constraints, civil service considerations, and organizational policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting recommendations to leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Master's degree preferred in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience
- 4+ years in workforce strategy, HR consulting, or organizational design.
- 2+ years supporting AI, data science, or technology-focused teams preferred.
