Job Description This role provides strategic planning and implementation support to strengthen internal and external communications and outreach activities. Responsibilities include daily support for communication efforts related to the California High-Speed Rail program; assisting with the preparation, formatting, and coordination of publications; developing visual and written content; and collaborating across teams to gather information and ensure consistent messaging. The role also includes researching and recommending improvements to outreach strategies, supporting social media content creation, and translating complex information into clear, public‑friendly materials. Additional tasks and projects may be assigned in support of communication goals.
Job Responsibilities
Daily support for communication and external affairs activities related to the California High-Speed Rail program
Assisting in preparing and organizing publications, collaborating across different programs to gather information and data, formatting content, and developing visual assets
Researching and providing recommendations to enhance outreach and communication strategies
Supporting the social media team with content development
Translating complex material into public‑friendly material
Other projects and tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Requirements
Experience with publication of large reports
Knowledge of complex and large infrastructure projects, and state government
Capable of researching and introducing innovative outreach methods or a strong understanding of emerging outreach tools
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Public Administration, or a related field
5+ years of relevant professional experience in a support role in communications, public affairs, or administrative coordination
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively
Additional Information
Travel may be required for this role.
Compensation Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $94,000 to $125,000 per year.
