Full-time, on-site in Grain Valley, MO. Own CAD design for extrusion blow molds, trim tools, and fixtures supporting plastics production. Salary $50,000–$100,000.
Key Responsibilities – SolidWorks Engineer - Plastics Tooling and Blow Mold Model blow molds, neck finishes, pinch areas, and parting lines in SolidWorks. Create 2D drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and ECOs for machining and assembly. Design trim tools, fixtures, EOAT, and gauge solutions for plastics lines. DFM reviews with machinists and process techs; iterate for cycle time and scrap reduction. Release CAM-ready files and drawing packs to the shop; support build issues. Tolerance stack-ups, material callouts, and cooling channel layouts. Coordinate vendor quotes for heat treat, coatings, and components. Support trials, first-article, and PPAP documentation. Maintain revision control and file hygiene per PDM standards. Qualifications – SolidWorks Engineer - Plastics Tooling and Blow Mold 3+ years with SolidWorks for mold/tooling or complex machined parts. Proven extrusion blow molding or plastics tooling experience. Strong GD&T per ASME Y14.5; 2D detailing and tolerancing. Experience collaborating with CNC machinists/toolmakers. Working knowledge of aluminum and tool steel grades for molds. Preferred Qualifications – SolidWorks Engineer - Plastics Tooling and Blow Mold CAM handoff experience; basic understanding of toolpaths and fixturing. Exposure to injection or thermoforming molds, manifolds, and cooling design. PDM or PLM usage; ECO workflows. Hands-on fit-and-finish or tryout support. Basic FEA or mold flow review experience.
