About the Role

The Dean, College of Communication will be responsible for serving as the chief academic and administrative leader of the college, shaping strategic vision, guiding curriculum development and advancing excellence across teaching, scholarship and service. You will oversee the recruitment, development and performance of faculty and staff, ensure a high-quality student experience across undergraduate and graduate programs, promote innovative research, creative work and industry partnerships, and manage the college's budget, resources, and external relationships. You will collaborate with university leadership to align the college's priorities with institutional goals, champion diversity, equity and inclusion, launch new programs and initiatives in response to emerging media and communication trends, and represent the college to alumni, donors, industry partners and the broader community. The ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) in communication, media studies, journalism, or a related field, and be qualified for appointment as a tenured full professor. You should bring significant senior academic leadership experience, including oversight of a college or similar unit within higher education, a proven record of excellence in teaching and/or research, strong fiscal and personnel management skills, successful fundraising or external partnership experience, and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive academic cultures. Exceptional strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
