Overview
Touro University Libraries seeks an innovative and collaborative Scholarly Communication Librarian to lead and expand the university's scholarly communication and open scholarship initiatives. The successful candidate will promote and support open access publishing, manage the institutional repository (Touro Scholar), and provide education and outreach to the library users on issues related to authors' rights, research visibility, and open educational resources (OER). Working under the supervision of the Director of Information Literacy and in close collaboration with the Open Educational Resources Librarian, this position plays a key role in advancing the university’s commitment to scholarly engagement across all campuses. This position is based at the Midtown campus of Touro University, New York, and is a non‑tenure track professional staff position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, management, and promotion of Touro Scholar, the university’s institutional repository
- Compile and publish the annual faculty publications volume
- Design and deliver webinars and workshops for faculty and students on scholarly communication topics, including open access, author rights, copyright, and research metrics
- Partner with the Open Educational Resources librarian and academic departments to increase adoption and awareness of open educational resources and open scholarship practices
- Serve as the embedded librarian for select undergraduate and graduate programs, providing research consultations, course‑integrated instruction, and tailored support
- Stay informed of trends and emerging technologies in scholarly communication, publishing, and research assessment
- Participate in professional development, presenting and publishing in relevant professional venues
- Provide individual research and resource consultations for faculty and students
- Work occasional evening hours and perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA‑accredited institution
- A minimum of two years of experience in an academic library setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team‑based environment.
- Comfortable in teaching and public speaking.
- Basic AI literacy.
- Familiarity with Citation Management Tools, such as Zotero and RefWorks
- Familiarity with learning management systems, preferably Canvas
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Flexibility and the ability to work in a team‑based environment are essential
Travel
- Travel to other New York Touro campuses as needed.
- Possibility of flexible work arrangements, including remote work opportunities.

Maximum Salary
USD $71,024.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $56,818.00/Yr.
