Senior Creative Design Specialist – VHB
Join VHB as a Senior Creative Design Specialist and advance your career within our expanding New England Marketing Team. This role offers the opportunity to develop high‑quality design assets for a variety of projects that positively impact our communities and the world around us. You will produce visually engaging proposals, presentations, and other client‑facing materials, ensuring brand consistency across all mediums while collaborating closely with internal teams to communicate the firm’s capabilities and enhance pursuit strategies.
In addition to design responsibilities, you will serve as a leader within the team, mentoring junior designers, managing projects, and contributing to the development of innovative marketing solutions.
Portfolio Requirement: Candidates must provide either a portfolio link or a PDF of work samples that highlight experience with document layout, graphic development, and presentation design.
Responsibilities
Pursuit Strategy and Proposal Development
- Lead design efforts through all phases of development and final production of materials, under the direction of a Creative Design Lead or Creative Design Manager.
- Plan, conceptualize, and design compelling graphics that convey complex information more concisely (e.g., covers, long‑form document layout, charts, tables, maps, infographics, technical diagrams).
- Manage projects, tasks, and deadlines to ensure timely and high‑quality deliverables.
Visibility and Communications
- Support internal and external visibility communications, conferences, webinars, and other regional industry events (e.g., digital communications, social media, email, ads, presentations).
Client Deliverables
- Coordinate and manage graphic design projects for client deliverables (e.g., project branding, printed reports, online documents, public outreach materials, custom infographics, website assets).
- Collaborate with third parties, including print vendors, photographers, and other subcontractors as required.
Mentorship and Collaboration
- Mentor and coach design team members, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their skills and performance.
- Actively participate in and present at kick‑off meetings, check‑ins, and final review meetings with limited supervision.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members, strengthening internal relationships with marketing peers and technical staff.
Brand Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure all deliverables comply with VHB’s corporate branding standards, formats, and template styles.
- Maintain QA/QC standards to ensure accuracy and consistency across all materials.
Company Understanding
- Take initiative to learn about VHB’s mission, core values, markets, services, regional leadership, and organizational goals.
- Actively engage with VHB’s culture and leadership to align design strategies with organizational objectives.

- Experience in photography and video production strongly preferred.
- Interest in animation, branding, website design, wayfinding design, map creation in ArcGIS, UX design, or 3D modeling also valued.
Qualifications
- 4–6 years of graphic design experience, preferably in an agency setting or within the A/E/C environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related discipline preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint and SharePoint (PC platform).
- Industry affiliations a plus (e.g., AIGA, SEGD).
- Hybrid work model with an expected 50% in‑office time.
Our best estimate of the hourly range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $36.06–$48.07 per hour; for Winooski/Montpelier, VT is $30.28–$40.86 per hour. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
