Design Observer is hiring: Museum Exhibition Graphic Designer in New York

We are hiring a mid‑to‑senior museum exhibition graphic designer with 3–5 years of experience in a collaborative design environment.

Responsibilities

• Mentor junior museum exhibition graphic designers
• Push the boundaries of museum exhibition graphic design excellence for our clients
• Communicate verbally and in writing with clients and team
• Use advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Maintain a positive attitude and handle criticism well
• Work independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Follow up on long‑term and short‑term projects
• Adapt to rapidly changing priorities
• Coordinate work across graphic designers, 3D designers, content, media teams, and external consultants
• Liaise with exhibit fabricators, project architects, and clients
• Help plan project timelines
• Knowledge of HTML, AfterEffects, SketchUp, or other 3D software is a plus but not required
• Experience reading architectural drawings is a plus

Qualifications

• Excellent design and typography skills
• Proficiency with imagery, color, and grids
• 3–5 years of experience, preferably in exhibitions
• Advanced Adobe Suite skills (Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, can‑do attitude
• Comfort leading junior designers and working in a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to send artwork for pre‑production and production
• Understanding of physical design materials
