The Research and Instruction Librarian leads the development, implementation, and assessment
of innovative and inclusive library instruction practices, enhancing in-person and online student
learning outcomes. The role emphasizes integrating emerging technologies, digital literacies,
and meta-literacy frameworks into academic curricula.
As a collaborative leader, this position supports the alignment of information literacy with university-wide teaching goals, working in partnership with faculty to foster an inclusive learning environment and enhance the integration of the library’s resources into academic programs.
This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Libraries.
Additional Responsibilities:
Actively engage with faculty, staff, and students to assess and improve library services,
resources, and the integration of information literacy across disciplines.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$57,000

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • At least three years of experience in information literacy instruction, instructional design, and assessment.
  • Expertise in utilizing emerging technologies and pedagogical strategies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Ability to incorporate digital and AI literacy concepts into teaching and curriculum development. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving, particularly in adapting library services to meet the evolving needs of diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in employing digital tools for teaching, learning management systems, and data analytics for assessment purposes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Experience with universal design for learning (UDL), Open Educational Resources (OER), AI tools, and instructional technologies such as learning management systems, digital curation tools, and online collaborative platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Basic office equipment (desktop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax and telephone).

Working Conditions

  • Work is mainly sedentary but requires occasional movement about the office and campus.
  • Regularly use a desktop computer and digital tools for content creation and collaboration.
  • Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required for professional development or collaboration.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent desktop computer use requiring hand/wrist movement and repetition. Occasional lifting and carrying of materials.

Instructional Design and Delivery:
• Collaborate with the Director of Libraries to design and implement a strategic plan focused on evolving instructional methodologies.
• Establish partnerships with faculty, integrating ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy into general education and discipline-specific curricula.
• Evaluate and develop instructional materials, leveraging formats such as OER to support student needs.
