Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Fiction)
Join the Department of English at the University of Florida for a full‑time, nine‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position teaching in the BA track and the MFA program in creative writing (fiction specialization). The position will become effective August 16, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach an average of two undergraduate courses per semester (four courses per academic year).
- Maintain an active writing and publication career.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Perform departmental service, including MFA program coordination (events planning, admissions, student mentoring, curriculum oversight) and committee participation.
Minimum Requirements
- Highest degree appropriate to the field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Book or substantial record of literary works.
Preferred Qualifications
- MFA and/or Ph.D. in Creative Writing.
- Experience writing in genres beyond literary fiction (creative nonfiction, screenplays, YA, children’s literature, graphic literature).
- Service or administrative experience within a university setting.
