Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Corporate Marketing & Events Specialist who will primarily be responsible for planning and executing tradeshows, conferences and client‑facing events that reflect our brand at the highest level. This individual will serve as a strategic partner, guiding business development teams, marketing professionals and creative designers to deliver polished and memorable experiences and materials. This is more than an event planner position – it is a strategic marketing role that uses events as a platform for client engagement, business growth and brand distinction.
District Overview The Kiewit Energy marketing, creative and proposal team provide services to an array of markets, including power generation, transmission and distribution, renewables, industrial, oil and gas, and water/wastewater. Individuals in this department get exposure to a mix of high‑profile, complex pursuits across North America valued from $5M to $6B. This incredibly profitable, competitive, fun group focuses on winning more work with high‑quality, client‑focused sales strategies through creative communication techniques. Our rapidly growing team, which includes graphic designers, proposal professionals, writers, digital strategists, marketers, and data analytics, brings vast experience, communication expertise, innovative concepts, and best practices to all projects we support across the company.
Location This position will be based out of our Lenexa, KS office. Opportunities for flexible work are available.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of corporate tradeshows, conferences and client‑facing events from start to finish, owning every detail and outcome
Partner with business development teams to shape event strategy, then translate that vision into compelling experiences that support client engagement and business growth
Interact directly with senior executives, client decision‑makers and external partners with professionalism and confidence, representing the company at the highest level
Manage event budgets and contracts with discipline and attention to detail, balancing creativity with financial responsibility
Own both the creative vision and events execution, working directly on the details while drawing on marketing and design support to craft a standout client experience
Learn and understand the market context behind each event, tailoring strategy and messaging to resonate with industry audiences
Collaborate with teammates and share best practices, jumping in to help execute the details of each other’s events and reinforcing a culture where no task is too small and everyone contributes at every level
Write and edit event communications, marketing materials, bios and other content with polish, accuracy and professionalism
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or related field
5+ years of corporate tradeshow and client event experience, with demonstrated ability to deliver polished, high‑profile events
Experience in the architecture, construction and engineering industry preferred
Confidence and professionalism in high‑stakes environments, with comfort interacting directly with executives and clients
Solutions‑provider mentality with the ability to work well independently and with others; maintains a positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience developing marketing content and executive communications
Balances big‑picture creativity with hands‑on execution and treats every detail as critical to the success of the whole
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator)
Approximately 15% travel annually (most trips are scheduled months in advance, though occasional last‑minute travel may be required)

Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
