Salary range:

$8,872–$12,650 per standard five‑credit course (salary points 1–13). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary.

Percent time:

Variable, based on course load assigned.

Anticipated start:

Appointments are contingent on instructional need and funding availability. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2025 through fall quarter 2026. Appointments outside this period require a separate open recruitment.

Position duration:

Typically one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, spring), with possible Summer Session appointments.

Position Description The Creative Technologies program invites applications for a pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach lower and/or upper‑division undergraduate courses, either during the academic year or Summer Session. Possible course topics include practice and tools of digital design (sound design, multimedia design, web‑design, animation), media studies, justice‑, decolonization‑, anti‑racist, transgender and feminist approaches to design and media technology, histories and cultures of digital media, interdisciplinary arts and design practices, creative coding, mechatronics, playable media studies and game theory, three‑dimensional design, immersive reality, machine creativity and machine learning, and natural language modeling for arts and design.

Creative Technologies (CT) is an online interdisciplinary arts and design major. Its curriculum synthesizes creative work with questions of ethics, equity, power, inclusion, democracy, and diversity. Lecturers applying should demonstrate the relevance of their experience and qualifications to these outcomes. The program emphasizes innovative teaching, emerging arts and design technologies, and the active roles of artists and designers in cultivating a just and ethical society.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

Experience with synchronous and/or asynchronous online learning environments and teaching modalities.

Experience with justice‑focused pedagogy.

Experience with universal design and accessibility, including disability justice‑informed teaching.

Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at the time of application)

M.F.A., doctorate (or equivalent terminal foreign degree);

or

at least two years of creative work experience resulting in publications, performances, exhibitions, or recordings that reflect a national and/or international profile of accomplishment.

Demonstrated record of teaching at least one course at a college or university.
