Salary Hourly: $28.33 – $44.26 (salary commensurate with experience)

Overview of Position This position is part of a highly experienced team responsible for the support and maintenance of a multi‑site P25 digital radio communications system and associated infrastructure, including mobile data computers for police and fire services. Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining radio systems, performing analysis and upgrades, and providing support in new radio technology implementation.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair radio units for Police, Fire, general City, and outside agencies; repair and maintain various public safety electronic devices such as Police and Fire helmet communication systems, license plate reader hardware, medical vaults, and mobile computers using wireless cellular technology.
Travel to customer locations to fulfill the SLA Annual Radio alignment program; record and maintain information on tested and serviced equipment.
Assist installers with equipment installations and troubleshooting.
Contact vendors and complete work in compliance with vendor specifications and standards.
Interface with other agencies’ staff to ensure seamless interoperable communications of the wireless P25 Land Mobile Radio systems in the greater Denver area.
Ensure that safety practices are followed at all times and maintain company owned equipment in good repair.
Train new employees in the correct system alignment and test procedures when required.
Troubleshoot microwave equipment and links.
Perform preventive maintenance checks on radio system mobile and portable radios.
Manage and resolve work tickets using the established ticketing system.
Perform data collection, entry, and reporting using computer applications.
Work in office and field environments under pressure.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Working Conditions An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education
Associate degree in a technology field such as Electronics, Communications, Information, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
Experience
Three plus years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of network management, server options, routing protocols, microwave, fiber‑optic, and/or electronic communications systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical hardware and software support to LAN, WAN, servers, and/or PCs.
Possession of P25 Digital Trunked Radio certifications from multiple manufacturers such as Motorola, Kenwood, Tait, Harris, and E.F. Johnson.
Knowledge & Skills
Aviat microwave training and experience.
Knowledge of FCC principles and guidelines regarding telecommunications and radio communications system installation and maintenance.
Experience with various communications devices and equipment, including wireless communications, digital/analog microwave systems, trunked radio systems, dispatch systems, and antenna/tower systems.
Familiarity with specialized computer applications such as CPS, Netmotion, Versaterm, Sierra Wireless AMM, Cradlepoint Netcloud, and Provisioning Manager.
Experience with radio communications equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance using electronic test equipment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, resolve tickets independently, and communicate progress clearly.
Experience operating in an ITSM environment, specifically ITIL based.
Licenses and Certifications Required
Valid Colorado Driver’s License (required).
Possession of an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) (preferred).
Working Conditions
Light physical work, lifting a maximum of 65 pounds.
Regular lifting and carrying of computer equipment.
Moderate walking and standing.
Vision and hand/eye coordination for keyboard operation.
Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with managers, users, and citizens.
Work Environment
Normally works in a clean, comfortable environment.
May require working outside the office environment and in or around emergency response vehicles.
Employee may serve as a lead worker, making assignments and monitoring completion of other employees’ work product.
Equipment Used
Standard business and professional tools and equipment, including computers, laptop computers, and mobile computing devices.
