Graduate Assistant of Marketing - Student Activities Graduate Assistant of Marketing Position Description

The Office of Student Activities is seeking a graduate assistant for the Spring 2026 semester, with the possibility of rehiring for the 2026-2027 academic year, for our Marketing Team. This position plays an integral role in helping to execute marketing strategies and delegate the production of promotional materials for all program areas within the department. These program areas include: Campus Programming, Leadership, and Student Organizations. Additionally, this assistantship will aid in brand positioning for the Office of Student Activities.

The Graduate Assistant (GA) of Marketing and Design will work closely with and manage several aspects of the Student Activities Marketing (SAM) Team, consisting of students who are developing skills in graphic design, photography, videography, and social media. The GA will aid the Coordinator of Marketing in ensuring all marketing plans are scaled to meet the needs of campaign, as well as creating project strategies, overseeing development of student workers, delegating social media and other promotional tasks, and ensuring professional and accurate messaging.

This is a 20-hour/week position that includes tuition remission (up to 12 credits per semester) and a bi-weekly stipend. Work hours will fall between 8:30am-5:30pm, with some evenings and weekends.

Duties

Ensure that Student Activities' identity is prominent in all marketing & communication produced within the office and is consistent with University practices

Monitor and ensure that the SAM Team is consistent with the best practices and protocol outlined by Towson University

Abide by campus posting policies and procedures for print advertisements in addition to proper tabling protocol

Organize, implement, and evaluate various social media marketing strategies for multiple departmental events and initiatives

Create and instigate opportunities for student involvement including contests, videos, collaborative projects, and other innovative marketing tactics

Identify prioritized items, assist in deadline management, and scale marketing efforts to reach specified goals from supervisor and departmental coordinator

Attend staff meetings, committee meetings, and weekly meetings with supervisor to reflect on experiences, needs, and goals

Track and analyze monthly social media, content, and newsletter metrics to determine successes and needs for improvement within the departmental marketing efforts

Work with communicating programs to the general public through emails, flyers, posters, digital ads, TU Today, and social media promotions

Work with Art Services, Print Services, and University Marketing to obtain marketing materials and wide-scale event coverage

Organize all marketing materials into proper files to be collected for future use

Assist with large campus-wide programs and weekend event

Qualifications

Pursuing or possesses a degree with a concentration in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, journalism, professional/creative writing, or related field

Experience working in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and Premiere Pro)

Ability to create well thought out graphic design

Ability to shoot and edit videos for social media

Detail-oriented with creative thinking abilities

Strategic mindset and strong analytical skillsAbility to take initiatives and possess a self-motivated work ethic

Able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently

Forward-thinking and knowledgeable about social media industry and best practices

Can work in a high-paced environment while managing tasks, time, and deadlines

Ability to delegate tasks to the student team and give direction on marketing projects

This is a 20-hour/week position that includes tuition remission (up to 12 credits per semester) and a bi-weekly stipend. Graduate Assistant stipends are disbursed every other week, on Wednesday, starting in mid-January, ending the last week in May.
