The Senior Talent and Transformation team enables Amazon’s senior leaders to be as successful as possible in inventing and delivering on behalf of customers, today and tomorrow.
We seek a Principal UX Designer who excels in strategic thinking and navigates ambiguity. You will develop the vision for how Amazon's senior leaders lead their businesses and shape talent strategies to achieve goals.>
As Principal UX Designer, you will develop prototypes for new agentic‑AI services and co‑design solutions that transform Amazon's internal operations. You will lead execution for AI services that enhance leadership effectiveness while partnering with designers, researchers, scientists, and change agents. Your role includes creating experiences that address the complexity of leadership roles and building personalized interfaces that enable rapid innovation and decision‑making.
In this position, you will deliver solutions that simplify leadership complexity at Amazon and create engaging, human‑centered experiences for senior leaders. You will develop AI‑powered tools that transform talent strategy development and design solutions that scale across Amazon's diverse business units.

Key job responsibilities
Set UX vision and influence the strategic product roadmap.
Develop working prototypes to learn and fail fast.
Facilitate work sessions with executive leaders.
Own the design of end‑to‑end product experiences and features.
Lead design through all phases of the product development lifecycle, from discovery to launch.
Champion human‑centered design culture.
Drive creative process and collaboration with cross‑functional partners to propose new ideas and strategies.
Model behavior that exemplifies Amazon Leadership Principles in their team and raises the design bar for the organization.
Provide coaching and feedback, with an emphasis on growing junior designers into future leaders.
Create and drive adoption of design guidelines, mechanisms, best practices, processes, and tools.
A day in the life As a Principal UX Designer, you will be working with product and engineering stakeholders closely on a day‑to‑day basis. You will independently own major experiences, and collaborate deeply with other UX designers and research across teams, connecting individual features to a holistic, wide‑ranging experience. You will share design work regularly with design team peer review, stakeholder review, and leadership.

Basic Qualifications
12+ years of design experience
Bachelor's degree in design, human‑computer interaction (HCI), or 12 years of equivalent professional experience
Available online portfolio demonstrating relevant work
Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS
Proficiency with current web and accessibility standards
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to communicate design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences at varying levels of the organization
Experience in collaborative team environments and direct work with senior developers
Fluency in best practices for design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UX design of complex workflows
Experience with co‑design and rapid prototyping
Experience leveraging AI tools in the product design process
Experience designing agentic AI experiences
Experience “vibe coding”
Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards
Ability to turn around rigorous wireframes and mockups in an iterative, agile environment
A master’s degree in Design, Information Science, Computer Science/HCI, or a design‑related discipline such cognitive psychology.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
