Role Purpose The NBC Sports On Air Graphics Team is looking for a full‑time staff Art Director for its rapidly growing portfolio of live sports properties and studio shows. Join a team of sports fanatics that equally appreciate typography, design and information layout. Your role will involve leading designers, animators and graphics integrators in creating new packages, as well as leading teams in the weekly management of existing on‑air packages. Working closely with coordinating producers of various properties, a collaborative and inspiring spirit is essential, balancing patience with a ‘get‑to‑air’ urgency.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with teams of designers to conceptualize, design, create and integrate high‑end sports graphics packages for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.

Review and collaborate with creative directors and other art directors on overall look and feel, ensuring quality and alignment with brief.

Manage and develop artists and designers within the department, creating professional growth opportunities.

Work with Project Management and Scheduling to identify efficient production workflows and maintain project budgets.

Supervise day‑to‑day design and production for studio and on‑air graphics.

Lead creative teams to produce best‑in‑class motion graphics packages for sports broadcasting.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

8+ years of experience at a network or broadcast design agency.

College graduate with a degree in graphic design, fine arts or a similar field.

Complete understanding of live sports graphics packaging (e.g., insert, scoring GFX, interstitials, transitions, wraparound packaging).

Hands‑on technical skills: After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, C4D, Redshift, etc.

Passion for show packaging and awareness of current graphic design trends.

Strong concept, storyboard, design and presentation skills.

Deep appreciation for typography and information graphics layout.

Collaborative, encouraging and engaging spirit.

Inspiring portfolio of relatable sports graphics production work.
