This Video/Multimedia Producer position is known internally as Associate Director of Multimedia. The Associate Director of Multimedia is a hands‑on creator who plans, produces, and edits compelling video content that advances the American Kidney Fund’s mission through storytelling. This Associate Director leads the development, production, and editing of compelling video and multimedia content that communicates AKF’s mission, engages diverse audiences,’s brand across channels. The Associate Director will oversee multimedia projects from concept to delivery, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure creative excellence, brand consistency, and strategic alignment with AKF’s marketing communications, education and fundraising goals. They bring a deep understanding of non‑profit storytelling, are highly organized and detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with quick turnaround. This role is a key member of the Brand Marketing team, reporting to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing, and working in close partnership with the Associate Director of Content Strategy, social media team, webmaster, Communications team and other internal teams to create cohesive, integrated storytelling across AKF platforms. Together, they will collaborate on concept development, campaign messaging and content planning to ensure all multimedia assets align with AKF’s strategic vision and engage audiences in meaningful ways. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Video and Creative Production

Lead full‑cycle production for patient and professional campaigns or educational initiatives, podcasts, donor engagement, events, webinars and social media. Manage the full video lifecycle, including pre‑production planning, virtual or on‑site filming, post‑production editing, and final delivery. Collaborate with the Associate Director of Content Strategy to align video narratives with campaign messages and content goals. Produce video content that aligns with current trends in social media algorithms. Develop multimedia versions of key written content where relevant (i.e. turning blog stories, educational materials or social posts into short‑form videos or explainers). Ensure all multimedia content aligns with AKF’s brand standards, tone, and content strategy. Help direct vendors, freelancers, and production partners to ensure creative quality and timely execution on video projects.

Multimedia Strategy and Execution

Work alongside leadership in the Office of Communications and Marketing to develop and implement a multimedia strategy that supports organizational goals and enhances AKF’s digital storytelling capabilities. In partnership with the full communications and marketing team, co‑develop multimedia content plans tied to promotional calendar, campaign initiatives, and storytelling goals. In collaboration with in‑house graphic designer, create engaging multimedia assets such as animations, motion graphics, and short‑form videos optimized for multiple platforms. Partner with the full marketing team to ensure that multimedia content supports campaigns, website content, social media, and fundraising initiatives. Identify emerging trends and technologies in video and multimedia to keep AKF’s creative output current and innovative.

Project Management and Collaboration

Collaborate cross‑functionally with other AKF departments (Programs, Advocacy and Development) and stakeholders to translate complex topics into engaging visual narratives. Manage multimedia project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and funded, sponsored projects. in implementation of new Digital Asset Management system. Maintain an organized archive of video and multimedia assets. Participate in brainstorming and creative development meetings to help shape how AKF tells its stories across various mediums. Provide creative direction, guidance, and training to AKF staff and collaborative partners on best practices for video storytelling and multimedia usage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, film/media production, marketing, or a related field Minimum of 3‑5 years’ experience in multimedia production, video editing, or digital storytelling, preferably within a nonprofit or mission‑driven organization. Strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative work, including marketing campaigns, fundraising materials, digital and print design, and brand collateral Advanced proficiency in video editing and production software Proficiency in industry‑standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, etc) and familiarity with Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Capcut, Canva and Riverside software preferred Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, audience engagement, accessibility standards, and cross‑platform storytelling. Excellent creative judgment, attention to detail, and storytelling instincts. Experience managing vendors, creative contractors, or production teams preferred. Ability to maintain and protect confidential materials and data. Passion for AKF’s mission and a commitment to making a positive impact on kidney health. The salary range displayed is for a successful candidate hired in the DMV area. The salary range may be adjusted to reflect cost of living factors for candidates living outside of this location.
