Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer – AtkinsRéalis Locations: Exton, PA; Philadelphia, PA; Houston, TX; San Antonio, TX; Richmond, VA; Winchester, VA; Orange, CT; Lauderdale, FL; Melbourne, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Tampa, FL.

Responsibilities

Preparation, design, modification, coordination, and review of piping and process equipment designs for power generation and industrial manufacturing facilities.

Preparation of PFDs and P&IDs under supervision of the process engineer.

Layout of complex piping systems and process equipment in a 3D environment, including isometric drawings with a Bill of Materials.

Work with in‑house resources or 3rd‑party firms that provide 3D scanning services and assist with point cloud conversions for 3D model development.

Selection of piping components.

Coordination of architectural requirements of process systems with architects.

Coordination of electrical requirements of process equipment with electrical engineers.

Review of construction progress in the field.

Participation in commissioning of systems.

Demonstration of success in designing, detailing, assembling, and laying out piping, equipment, and pipe support structural systems using 2D/3D design software.

Anticipation of consequences of new designs in active iterations with clients.

Autonomous work and collaborative teamwork.

Interface with clients, contractors, and co‑workers.

Mentoring and effective interaction with team members from all offices.

Qualifications

Minimum 15 years’ experience in an engineering design firm.

Experience with power plant design (combined cycle, simple cycle, nuclear, etc.).

Experience with ASME B31.1 Power Piping and routing of high‑pressure steam and feedwater piping.

Experience with pipe support design.

Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section 1.

Industrial retrofit project experience is a plus.

Technical skills: AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SP3D SmartPlant, AutoCAD PID, Navisworks, 3D animation, MS Office, MS Project, BIM, Revit and ability to learn additional design software.

Design of process support utilities in pharmaceutical and biotech industries (USP, WFI, clean steam) is a plus.

Time management and multi‑tasking abilities.

Ability to meet deadlines in high‑pressure environments.

Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team environment.

Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates.

Travel to client sites required.

Compensation Expected compensation range: $100,000 – $130,000 USD annually, depending on skills, experience and geographical location.
