Position Overview The Director of Strategic Communications is a senior leader (12+ years experience) responsible for advancing PMG’s integrated marketing communications practice through strategic leadership and operational excellence. The role blends high‑level brand planning with hands‑on execution across content, digital and marketing disciplines. The Director will lead and mentor PMG’s Marketing + PR Strategists and collaborate with Directors of Marketing Services, Public Relations, Brand Strategy and Client Success to ensure alignment, efficiency and consistent brand delivery across PMG’s portfolio. Full‑time position, approximately 40 hours per week, with expectation for regular in‑person collaboration in the Indianapolis area or at headquarters in Carmel.

Roles & Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Integration

Lead PMG’s integrated marketing communications strategy, combining brand storytelling, content development, and digital performance.

Translate client goals and business insights into clear, actionable communications plans.

Partner with leadership to shape PMG’s positioning, thought leadership and internal communications strategies.

Champion cross‑functional collaboration between communications, media and digital teams for creative resonance and performance.

Guide overall marketing and brand strategy for PMG and its clients for strategic alignment across all touchpoints.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

Lead and mentor team members across marketing and communications disciplines, fostering creativity, accountability and collaboration.

Provide guidance on campaign planning, execution, analytics and client presentation.

Establish KPIs, performance metrics and operational processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.

Serve as a bridge between strategy and execution, empowering team members while maintaining delivery excellence.

Provide coaching and professional development opportunities that build strategic, creative and leadership capabilities.

Client & Business Partnership

Serve as senior strategic advisor for key accounts, providing high‑level communications counsel, creative insight and performance recommendations.

Collaborate with Directors of PR, Brand Strategy and Marketing Services for cohesive execution across paid, earned and owned media.

Partner with the Director of Client Success to strengthen client relationships, build trust and drive long‑term retention.

Oversee project timelines, budgets and resources for efficiency, profitability and smooth execution.

Proactively identify and resolve challenges for timely, high‑quality delivery.

Use data and analytics to measure marketing effectiveness and report KPIs to clients and internal teams.

Partner with leadership and the Director of Client Success to identify opportunities for client growth, expansion and new business development.

Innovation & Data‑Driven Insight

Integrate data, analytics and AI‑powered tools into campaign planning, communications strategy and performance reporting.

Champion a full‑funnel marketing approach that merges audience insight, digital engagement and storytelling to drive measurable outcomes.

Lead the adoption of emerging technologies that enhance content creation, distribution and measurement.

Stay ahead of marketing and communications trends to ensure PMG remains innovative and competitive.

Agency & Cultural Leadership

Represent PMG’s brand and thought leadership externally, serving as an ambassador in client, industry and community engagements.

Collaborate with the CEO, VP of Operations and Director of Client Success to strengthen PMG’s internal culture, communication practices and professional development programs.

Model PMG’s “Consider it done” ethos through integrity, adaptability and excellence in leadership.

Serve as a strategic partner in agency growth, supporting client expansion, business development and enterprise‑level brand partnerships.

Qualifications

Minimum of 12 years in marketing communications, brand strategy or integrated marketing (agency experience preferred).

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.

Proven success leading cross‑channel communications strategies and managing high‑performing teams.

Expertise in marketing strategy development, content leadership and campaign performance measurement.

Deep understanding of performance marketing, paid and earned media integration and content strategy.

Proficiency with data analytics, reporting dashboards and AI‑driven marketing tools.

Exceptional leadership, communication and client relationship skills.

Collaborative, people‑first mindset with strong operational and organizational acumen.

Experience leveraging AI‑driven tools and analytics for insight generation and campaign optimization.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Detail‑oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

Proficient in Google Business Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Ability to travel within Indiana as needed.

Experience with MailChimp, Google Analytics, SEO tools and project management software (e.g., Monday.com).

Hybrid location, with travel to Indianapolis or Carmel for in‑person team meetings.
