Medical Writer (IVD / Medical Devices) – 100% Remote

We are currently seeking candidates for a detail‑oriented Medical Writer with a growing Med Device company. The Medical Writer is responsible for creating clear, accurate, and user‑focused technical and scientific documentation, including equipment manuals, appendices, and operating or maintenance instructions. This role organizes, edits, and maintains technical records across multiple product lines, ensuring compliance, consistency, and high‑quality standards.

This is a 6‑month contract position that will pay $40 – $45/hour depending on experience. Candidates must be able to work CST/EST.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and revise documentation for internal and external corporate use.
  • Produce large or complex portions of documentation projects across multiple product lines or technical domains.
  • Work on technically complex and high‑impact deliverables, applying creativity, problem‑solving, and sound business understanding.
  • Review, revise, and approve documentation, ensuring consistency and accuracy across assigned areas.
  • Contribute to project strategy by defining documentation scope, supporting timeline and milestone planning, and assessing resource needs.
  • Identify project risks and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain organized documentation files and records in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Perform additional writing‑related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Medical Writer or Technical Writer in Life Sciences (recent grads or PhD with relevant coursework/internships will also be considered).
  • Experience in IVD and/or Medical Devices is required.
  • Strong understanding of medical device industry regulations, standards, and governance requirements.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools, including:
  • MadCap Flare (highly desired)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  • Adobe FrameMaker (required)
  • Excellent documentation, communication, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working directly for a medical device company.
  • Prior experience writing technical or scientific documentation for an IVD or medical device product.
  • Clear understanding of differences between medical devices and IVD products.
