The Director of PR, Social Media & Marketing serves as the voice and public presence of Sisterhood Sanctuary Domestic Violence Resource Center. This volunteer leader shapes how the organization communicates with the public, builds awareness, engages survivors, and strengthens our brand identity. This role is essential in amplifying our mission, expanding community reach, and supporting survivors through trauma-informed messaging.
Key Responsibilities
Public Relations & Communication
- Develop, refine, and implement a consistent communication strategy across all public-facing platforms.
- Draft press releases, media responses, and community announcements.
- Ensure all messaging is trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and aligned with organizational values.
Social Media & Digital Presence
- Manage and update all organizational social media accounts, ensuring consistent engagement.
- Create content calendars, graphics, videos, and messaging to build a strong online community.
- Monitor trends, respond to inquiries, and maintain a safe, respectful digital environment.
Marketing & Awareness Campaigns
- Design marketing campaigns that highlight programs, events, partnerships, and survivor resources.
- Develop promotional materials, flyers, newsletters, and brand-aligned content.
- Support fundraising initiatives through storytelling and digital engagement strategies.
Branding & Image Management
- Uphold and advance the organization’s brand identity, voice, and mission.
- Ensure all materials, visuals, and messages match our trauma-informed standards and cultural values.
- Expand public visibility by building partnerships with media outlets, influencers, and community platforms.
Qualifications
- Experience in public relations, social media management, branding, marketing, or communications (professional or volunteer).
- Strong writing and editing skills; ability to communicate with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.
- Trauma-informed communication awareness (training provided if needed).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a supportive team environment.
- Organized, creative, and able to manage multiple tasks with consistency.
- Passion for supporting survivors, elevating marginalized voices, and strengthening community connections.
