Fall and Spring Semester; Summer Sessions. Part-time Lecturer applicant pool. Non-tenure, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. Evening, weekend and or distance offerings for UH Maui College and or Outreach sites (Lana' i, Moloka'i) may be assigned as part of regular workload.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for which could include textile science; garment construction using variety of different fabrics; flat pattern development; and apparel manufacturing.
- Develop lectures, workshops and sewing demonstrations related to course assignment.
- Provide individualized instruction in the sewing lab if related to course assignment.
- Be competent in the operation and basic maintenance of a variety of industrial sewing machines.
- Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
- Prepare course syllabi, grading and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Develop patterns for sample sewing technique demonstrations.
- Work under supervision of discipline coordinator, division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- May include instructional assignments involving distance learning, online instruction and evening course offerings.

Minimum Qualifications
As listed below. All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
Master’s Degree in Fashion Technology
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Technology AND three (3) years related work experience
OR
Associate Degree in Fashion Technology AND five (5) years related work experience
OR
15 College credits AND seven (7) years related work experience (including training)
Desirable Qualifications
- Successful high school, community college and/or university teaching experience in a related field.
- Work experience related to course(s) being taught.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Experience in the use of technology to support instruction and student success.
- Ability to integrate writing, math and appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of the student’s classroom learning activities.
