Job Description
The Ophthalmic Photographer reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Ophthalmic Photographer is responsible for the technical support of physicians and subspecialists in the Department of Ophthalmology. Duties include performing various imaging tests such as angiographic and photographic exams, managing patient interaction under the direct supervision of the imaging lab supervisor, physicians, and/or other certified staff within the lab.
Responsibilities
- Perform performance and documentation tasks per physician expectations and special testing protocols.
- Possess knowledge of ophthalmic imaging techniques (Color fundus photos, OCT, Fluorescein Angiogram, Slit Lamp Photo).
- Prepare the room and maintain equipment, laboratory stock and cleanliness.
- Order supplies including lab supplies, medications, ocular supplies, and instruments.
- Act as an integral part of the patient‑care team, promoting patient satisfaction through professional, friendly interaction.
- Accept and perform delegated responsibilities, offering assistance to others.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings; communicate effectively with patients and the patient‑care team (in‑office and on phone).
- Perform delegated procedures common to the specialty area safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Execute all other duties as assigned by the Physician, Supervisor, or Manager as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
Required
- High School diploma.
- 1–2 years of prior experience in an ophthalmology role.
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in ophthalmic photography.
- Certification as a Retinal Angiographer when eligible.
