The Senior Principal Public Relations Representative will work as a strategic advisor for priority efforts within the division, supporting the formulation of compelling stories that deliver measurable results. The role is based in San Diego and reports to the Division Communications Director.
Responsibilities & Expectations
The candidate must be a confident strategic advisor, have experience leading teams in a matrixed organization, and constantly seek improvement through disciplined measurement, analysis, and adjustment.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience as a communications advisor or leader.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgment, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
- Proficient in Associated Press Style.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- US citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Communications and leadership experience in the defense industry preferred.
- DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00. The range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and in VP/Director positions, long‑term incentives.
