The Role
Forge is looking for a strategic and versatile Director of Communications to lead and elevate our brand’s external and internal voice. Reporting to the EVP of Corporate Marketing & Communications, this leader will shape and execute Forge’s strategic communications strategy—encompassing public relations, media strategy, executive thought leadership, internal communications, and high‑impact events.
Location
This role requires a hybrid work schedule, with 2‑3 days per week in our Soho, New York office to foster collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Leadership – Develop and execute a multi‑channel communications strategy aligned with Forge’s mission, business goals, and brand voice.
- Executive Communications & Thought Leadership – Create bespoke thought leadership platforms for key executives, support speechwriting, presentation development, and high‑profile external engagements.
- Media Relations & PR – Own and drive the media strategy for Forge, cultivating strong relationships with top‑tier journalists and industry influencers to amplify brand, product, and executive visibility.
- Social Media Strategy (Executive & Brand) – Lead social media strategy for executive communications and thought leadership, working in alignment with the Director of Content and Head of Acquisition to deliver consistent, engaging content across channels.
- Internal Communications – Develop high‑impact internal communications that reinforce company culture, drive clarity on key initiatives, and support change management and employee engagement.
- Events & Product Launches – Lead communications planning and media strategy for product launches, key events, and milestone announcements.
- Issues & Crisis Management – Partner with stakeholders to support and guide internal and external crisis communications as needed.
- Agency & Partner Management – Oversee external PR agencies and communications freelancers, driving performance, strategy alignment, and accountability.
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of experience in communications, PR, or corporate affairs—specifically in fintech, banking, capital markets or financial services.
- Proven track record in managing media relations, including securing high‑impact coverage and handling sensitive media situations.
- Experience leading executive communications and building thought leadership platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats—from press releases to social copy to speeches.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including C‑suite.
- Familiarity with social media trends, tools, and strategies for executive and corporate profiles.
- Experience managing external agencies, freelancers, or consultants.
- Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
- Physical requirements: operate a computer for 8 hours per day; give and receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a growth‑stage company or public company environment.
- Understanding of the private market ecosystem and investor communications landscape.
- Background in journalism or editorial roles a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
For residents of New York, New York the annual salary range for this role is $160,000 – $185,000 + annual bonus. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, bonus, and other factors.
