Salary : 40.53 – 88.53 USD/hr; final rate determined by collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

Position Summary

Administrative Nurse I directs patient care, unit activities and personnel on an assigned shift using the Nursing Process and Relationship‑Based Care model. The nurse identifies work priorities, coordinates daily assignments and staff scheduling, and implements and modifies patient care plans under general supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and updates patient care plans based on ongoing assessment and input from patients and families.
  • Advocates for patients, families, communities, and the nursing profession.
  • Integrates evidence‑based practice and current standards to deliver quality care per established nursing standards.
  • Leads professional growth by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet them.
  • Identifies recurring unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution.
  • Assists with unit‑based quality/research initiatives and provides staff education.
  • Monitors all patients’ status to support the nursing and medical team and directs workflow for timely admission and discharge.
  • Assumes Charge Nurse role as assigned, using appropriate resources and tools, and resolves policy and procedural questions.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict management, and customer‑service skills as a role model and problem solver.
  • Responds to patient care issues, giving guidance, feedback, and follow‑up to staff and management.
  • Procures necessary clinical supplies and equipment and follows up on maintenance.
  • Contributes feedback to performance evaluation of unit personnel.
  • Facilitates therapeutic or task‑oriented groups specific to nursing discipline.
  • Participates in special projects and performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSN (or higher) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Professional Nurse license in Illinois.
  • Minimum one (1) year of professional nursing experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a relevant clinical area.
  • Current BLS/CPR and/or required unit certifications.
  • Current ACLS, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
  • Nationally certified through ANCC‑approved certifier, or within 6 months of hire in a relevant area.
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred.
  • CPI certification a plus or to be completed once hired.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work under pressure.
  • Independent judgment and ability to motivate nursing staff.
