At Newton we are developing a new language and UI for mathematics that will make creating and sharing math 100x faster than existing tools like spreadsheets/MATLAB. Role Description This is a co-founder / founding engineer role meaning high responsibility and high ownership of the company and product. Primary work today is UX/UI/Engineering. This will not be a remote company, though some remote work will be acceptable for the first few months. Must be able to meet up in the Bay Area or Los-Angeles Metro Area (I often travel between them). In this role, you will collaborate with the team to design, prototype, and develop intuitive user interfaces, focusing on user-centric design principles. Day-to-day tasks include implementing front-end components, testing with users, and contributing to software development initiatives. You will also play a vital role in shaping the product's vision. Qualifications Strong Front-End Development skills, including experience with modern frameworks and libraries (React). Proficiency in Visual Design tools and principles, complemented by User Experience (UX) and User Experience Design (UED) capabilities. Ability to translate complex user needs into simple, elegant, and functional designs. Strong problem-solving skills and collaboration experience in a startup or fast-paced environment. Willing to learn any task required, no task will be below or above us. Willing to work hard including weekends if needed. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field is beneficial. Seniority level
